Denied NDPP ticket, Keneizhakho Nakhro to contest as an Independent; releases manifesto

Not being given a ticket did not deter Keneizhakho Nakhro, the sitting MLA of Western Angami Assembly Constituency of Nagaland decided to fight the elections as an Independent candidate.

He released his election manifesto today in Kohima and said that his key priorities are infrastructure, education, health, gender equality, women empowerment, economic development, inclusive growth, responsible tourism and agriculture.

“Partnering together for an equitable, sustainable and resilient future for all is my vision statement,” he added.

Speaking on the way forward, Nakhro affirmed that he would work to improve infrastructure facilities for better quality of life, accessibility to basic services and opportunities; focus in skill development for livelihood development and community building; promote gender equality and women empowerment; strive for inclusive growth that benefits all sections of society.”

Besides, he also emphasized on promoting games and sports and other opportunities.

Nakhro expressed his discontentment for being denied the NDDP ticket and stated that the reason is best known to them (NDPP).

However, he said, “we take this as for a good reason only, as per the present political situation.”

It may be mentioned, Keneizhakho Nakhro got elected in the year 2018 on a NPF ticket but had merged with the NDPP along with 20 other NPF MLAs in April 2022.

Keneizhakho Nakhro is up against NDPP candidate Salhoutuonuo Kruse.
