Chants of Modi, Modi reverberated the air in poll bound Nagaland, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a mega rally in Chumukedima. The Prime Minister’s poll pitch for Nagaland was – Permanent Peace, Progress and Prosperity.

Addressing a huge crowd at Chumukedima, the Prime Minister said that incidents of violence in the once insurgent-hit state has gone down by 75 per cent.

“Our mantra for Nagaland has been peace, progress and prosperity. Therefore, Nagaland’s trust on BJP and NDPP has been constantly growing. Over the past few years many youths have given up the path of violence. In the past nine years, the number of violence incidents have come down by 75 per cent. AFSPA has been removed from several parts of the state. Our efforts are on to lift AFSPA from the whole of Nagaland. Establishing permanent peace and progress in Nagaland is the main aim and basis of BJP in the state,” the Prime Minister said.

Giving a stern warning to all those involved in extortions and other such activities, the Prime Minister said that on March 2 (results day) when the BJP comes back to power, strong action will be taken against all of them.

Interesting to note that the crucial Naga issue did not find mention in the PM’s 25-minute long speech.
Reacting to the massive crowd that turned up to attend his rally, the PM said,”I am witnessing a massive public support for the BJP and the NDPP. In Nagaland, there is a wave of Vikaas (development) and Viswas (Trust).”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi attributed this to, “Today there is a massive support towards the NDPP and BJP because we are working day and night for the rapid development of Northeast.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi tore into the Congress for ignoring the sentiments and welfare of the people of Nagaland as well as Northeast. In this regard, he said, “For Nagaland, for Northeast the policy of the Congress and it’s partners was only Vote Pao, and Bhul Jao (Get Votes and Then Forget).”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also blamed the Congress for political instability in Nagaland.

“The leaders of Congress in Delhi, never see towards Nagaland. The governments of the Congress and it’s partners, in the name of politics, never gave importance to the stability and prosperity of Nagaland. During the rule of Congress, there was always political instability in Nagaland,” PM Modi said.

Besides, PM Modi also said that the Congress was only busy with Family First mind-set, while it ignored the real issues. He said, “Congress always ran the Nagaland govt on remote control from Delhi. Because in Delhi, Family First was the mind-set. From Delhi to Dimapur, they gave sole importance only to Family Politics. That is why Nagaland and Northeast is giving a befitting response to the Congress for it’s wrongdoings.”

The Prime Minister while reiterating about the Centre’s commitment to take Northeast to new heights, said that the BJP and NDA has changed the narrative of “Delhi Politics” for the entire Northeast.

In this context too, he launched a scathing attack on the Congress and said, “During the Congress regime, the party only considered Northeast as an ATM to fill the pockets of it’s leaders. The Congress leaders sitting in Delhi used to “withdraw money meant for Northeast” like anyone does while using an ATM. Welfare funds never reached to the people but only filled the coffers of corrupt political leaders.”
