Tripura Floods: Riflewomen of Assam Rifles Lead Relief and Rescue Operations

SD: As of today, over 750 people have been evacuated from flood-affected areas across the state, with ongoing operations providing medical assistance and other critical aid.

In a remarkable display of indomitable spirit and leadership, the Riflewomen of Assam Rifles took charge of flood relief and rescue operations across Tripura. Following heavy monsoon rains that submerged various parts of the state, four rescue columns of Assam Rifles were launched, focusing on areas like East Kanchanbari, Kumarghat, Unakoti district, Amarpur in Gomati district, Bishalgarh in Sepahijala district, and Tripura West.

As per reports, on the morning of August 22, 2024, Assam Rifles received an urgent alert about women trapped on the rooftops of flooded homes in Bishalgarh, Sepahijala district. Responding swiftly, teams composed of Riflewomen rushed to the location, successfully evacuating the stranded women to safety. They not only facilitated their movement to relief camps but also ensured they had access to essential supplies.

Reportedly, as of today, over 750 people have been evacuated from flood-affected areas across the state, with ongoing operations providing medical assistance and other critical aid. The Riflewomen have proven to be indispensable in these efforts, particularly in aiding vulnerable groups such as women.

The Assam Rifles is working in close coordination with the civil administration and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams to alleviate the hardships faced by citizens in flood-ravaged areas.
