First Published: 10th October, 2022 20:48 IST

Protests erupted in Arunachal Pradesh's Longding district as people in large numbers took to the streets condemning the incident.

Widespread condemnation poured in day slamming the cowardly killing of an elderly trader in the state’s Londing district last evening.

While traders in Longding called for a shutdown of the market to protest the killing, a candle light procession was held this evening to demand justice for the victim.

Suspected NSCN-K-YA militants had shot dead 70-year old Atar Singh Sharma when he was at his grocery shop last evening.

Singh was with his wife and son at the shop at the time of the incident.

The bullets hit Singh’s chest and critically injured him. While he was immediately rushed to the local community health centre in Longding he succumbed to his injuries.

As team Northeast Live visited Longding, the victim’s son Arun Sharma narrated the ordeal and demanded justice. One of the prime witness, Sharma’s son said that everything happened in a couple of minutes time.
