Nagaland Teacher’s Strike: Scale pay with revision of pay granted

First Published: 27th September, 2022 12:11 IST

Government of Nagaland considering the plight of the teachers has already granted scale pay with revision of pay.

In a big development regarding the agitations carried out by the All Nagaland Adhoc Teacher’s Group demanding for regularisation of their services, the Government of Nagaland considering the plight of the teachers has already granted scale pay with revision of pay.

The Nagaland government claimed that the pay was revised despite financial constraints faced by the State.

However, on regularisation of the services, the Government informed that regularisation of services of Adhoc teachers can only be considered with directions from the Supreme Court and High Court.

Earlier on Monday hundreds of teachers under the banner of All Nagaland Ad hoc Teacher’s Group 2015 hit the streets of Kohima demanding early solutions to the long pending issue of regularisation of their services.

The ad hoc teachers said that their agitation will continue till the demands are met. The same batch of teachers had protested for almost a month demanding for regularisation of their service in the year 2018 however, the agitation was put on suspension following the appeasement policy of the state government by providing the 6th revision of pay to the Ad hoc teachers.

Moreover, the Ad hoc teachers of the 2015 Batch have been exercising their democratic form of protest in a phase-wise manner since April 16.

Starting from pen-down strikes, to boycotting classes and peaceful sit-in protests to placard demonstrations at the Directorate of School Education, these teachers, some of them pregnant women, have gone through it all.

The Ad hoc Teachers were appointed on an emergency basis by the State Govt and according to the service rules, if they fulfill all the criteria, their services will be regularised but although the Ad hoc teachers have been rendering their service for the last 8 years, their service has not been regularised yet.
