The People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) government of Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have decided to come out with a Common Minimum Programme (CMP) for the development of Nagaland.

This was finalised during a meeting held on 19 May between Assam Chief Minister and NEDA Convenor Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, Deputy Chief Minister Y.Patton, Deputy Chief Minister TR.Zeliang, Minister Temjen Imna Along and Minister G.Kaito Aye at Guwahati, Assam.

Sources privy to the meeting informed that a Committee has been constituted, comprising members from both the alliance partners to work on the CMP.
After drafting the CMP the state leaders along with NEDA convenor Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma will meet the Union Home Minister for approval.

The NEDA convenor will be highlighting the manifestos of the alliance partners NDPP and BJP to Union Home Minister Amit Shah during his visit to Guwahati on 25 May.

The CMP has been necessitated as the alliance partners have different manifestos.

“Before the election Prime Minister was supposed to come and declare many things but he couldn’t do that. He came only at the prime of election. So, what is happening is that the Alliance government has to work together with certain agenda. The NDPP and BJP both has different manifestos, so under NEDA Convenor Himanta Biswa Sarma blessing we have decided to come to certain points together which will be the CMP of the PDA government ” said one source.

The Urban Local Bodies (ULB) election and other agendas were also discussed during the meeting.
