Just a day ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the poll bound state, Himanta Biswa Sarma reiterated about the strong bond between the BJP and the NDPP.
Drumming up support for Salhoutuonuo Kruse who is the NDPP’s candidate from Western Angami seat, Chief Minister Sarma said that both the BJP and NDPP has given a stable government without any kind of political uncertainity.
Sarma in his speech said,”As You all know that for the last 5 years NDPP and BJP is providing a stable government to the people of Nagaland under the leadership of Neihpiu Rio. Normally, we see lot of political uncertainity but in my memory the last 5 years was that we do not have to see any kind of political instability in the state of Nagaland.”
In this context, Himanta Biswa Sarma also heaped praise on the leadership of incumbent Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio. Sarma said, “The reason being primarily, the unique leadership provided by Neiphiu Rio, the relationship between our central leadership and the party here in Nagaland i.e. the NDPP and the common desire for everyone to work for a better Nagaland.”
Besides, Himanta Biswa Sarma also highlighted about the BJP and Centre’s commitment to resolve the vexed Naga political issue. The NEDA convenor added that concentrated efforts have been made to reach a logical end as far as the Naga issue is concerned.
Regarding the Naga issue, Sarma said,”We have spent in the last 5 years considerable time and energy for bringing a solution to the Naga political problem and we have travelled, we have covered lot of ground and I am sure that next 5 years will be very very important towards achieving that objective. We want to have a solution, which will respect the uniquenness of Nagas, uniqueness of the history of Naga people and also recognize a strong friendship between the Naga people and other people living in the rest of India.”
Himanta Biswa Sarma is hopeful that under the leadership of Chief Minister Rio in the next more efforts will be put into for a solution to the political issue. He said,”I believe that these (next) 5 years under the leadership of Neiphiu Rio we will work further, we will work for achieving that objective of bringing a permanent solution to the Naga political problem.”
Himanta Biswa Sarma also affirmed about the strong ties between the BJP and the NDPP as he mentioned about the joint campaign of both the parties. Sarma said,”As You know that the BJP and the NDPP has now established solid partnership among ourselves. We have decided to contest in this election where NDPP has been allotted 40 seats & BJP has been allotted 20 seats. We are perfectly campaigning together as one entity.”
Speaking about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit tomorrow, Himanta Biswa Sarma said,”Tomorrow we are going to see the most important visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. PM will come down to Nagaland to campaign for the BJP-NDPP alliance to reiterate our strong committment for development of Nagaland and to endorse the leadership of Neiphiu Rio and to appeal to all of you to vote for NDPP BJP once again.”
“So we have seen 3 important visits of BJP National leadership in the last 2 weeks that goes to show how much my party cares for the friendship with NDPP and also how much we care for the future of Nagaland,” Sarma added.
In terms of fielding women candidates, by both the BJP and the NDPP, Himanta Biswa Sarma said,”Nagaland had started it’s journey in 1969 at that point of time. So much year has gone by now but till today we do not have a female legislator in the Nagaland Legislative assembly.
Whatever may be the reason, this time Honourable CM Neiphiu Rio this time has taken a historical decision that time has come where we wil not talk about gender equality, not only about women empowerment but in fact we are going to give responsibility to our women legislators to lead the desting of the state in the days to come. History is going to be created on the day of the result. We will all be part of the history and I think that history will make Nagaland a much stronger state in the days to come.”
Meanwhile, Neiphiu Rio who was also present in the joint campaign with Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “Because of PM Narendra Modi’s dynamic leadership and vision for peace and development, we are proud Nagas but equally proud Indians.”
Speaking on resolving the inter-state boundary issue, Rio said, “We decided that our boundary dispute should be settled out of court. Third person coming and creating some commotion. In times to come we will resolve it.”
While exuding confidence of putting up a good show in the ensuing elections, Rio said,”I want to see all the BJP and NDPP candidates should win so that we can have a vibrant government.”
