Meghalaya’s Lakdong turmeric receives GI tag

Meghalaya’s Lakadong turmeric has been given the GI tag, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma announced on Monday. He said that the government is working on getting GI tags for all the indigenous products of the state.
Local products such as Khasi Mandarin Orange have already been given the GI tag.
The Registrar of Geographical Indications (GI), Chennai awarded the coveted Geographical Indication tag for Lakadong turmeric.
