The Minister said that the NHM is not a professional organisation that has the expertise to run the 108 ambulance services in the state

The Meghalaya government is currently undertaking a quick review of the best course of action for operationalising the 108 ambulance services that the National Health Mission has so far taken over for last year, said State Health Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh today.

The Minister said that the NHM is not a professional organisation that has the expertise to run the 108 ambulance services in the state.

Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh said that the government is preparing the tendering procedure and it will take time. The government do want to rush into the procedure because there is already a 108 service in operation, the government does not want to hurry up the process. Instead, it wants to make sure that whatever is done is done in the best interest of the employees who are already engaged in 108 ambulance services in the state.

“The tender is now being prepared and likely be floated at the earliest time possible. We would like to see that we engaged with the most eligible party that will be able to bring along with it a fleet of 108 services functioning efficiently across the state,” she added.

The Minister further said that the state government considered and safeguard all the workers of 108 ambulance services at the moment so that whenever the new company takes over, all the workers get the maximum benefits.
