Debbarma demanded to hang the culprits.

Tipra Motha founder and Tripura royal scion Pradyot Debbarma has condemned the recent gruesome killing of 6 individuals including 3 children in Manipur’s Jiribam district by armed miscreants and demanded the killers be hanged.

“A sixty year old lady and a two year old child are brutally killed in Manipur. I hang my head in shame collectively as northeasterners and demand the Government that these culprits be hanged for killing women and children to justify their cause . These people hide behind agendas while the helpless and the poor suffer . How can we as humans justify or defend such cruel actions? GOI must do more, Northeast is a part of India and when incidents like this happens alienations begin . My deepest condolences to the family of the victims,” Debbarma posted on X.

It may be mentioned here that 6 individuals – 3 children, one as young as just 10-months-old, and 3 women, one a 60-year-old, all from the same family were abducted on November 11 from Jiribam and four days later on November 15 late night, their bodies found – 3 bodies were found floating in the Barak river and three bodies were found stuffed in gunny bags. This triggered massive violent protests across Imphal since November 16.

Prior to this, after a lull of few months, violence broke out in Manipur from November 7 when a woman was shot and then burnt to death in Jiribam’s Zairawn village. After this there were firing incidents in Phayeng, Kangchup, Koutruk in Imphal West. Once again from November 11, Jiribam became the epicentre of violence when armed miscreants set houses and crop on fire and killed two people. Ten armed men were killed when CRPF and Manipur Police retaliated.
