Heavy looting and arsoning has also taken place. Several private residences, including that of a journalist’s house have been burnt down
A fresh exchange of gunfire is underway in the border town of Moreh since this morning.
As per latest inputs, the firing broke out between armed militants and security forces including Paramilitary forces, Assam Rifles and BSF at 9:30 am, and is still going on. Security forces are however tight-lipped on the identity of the militants.
Not just this, heavy looting and arsoning has also taken place, and if reports are to be believed, several private residences have been burnt down including that of a journalist. Situation continues to be tense.
Top police officials said that the premises and the buildings attacked today were the ones that were already targeted in previous attacks.
However, the only fresh establishment to have been attacked today was the forest office building which was partially burnt down, police sources added.
Meanwhile, the mob has been reportedly cleared out of Moreh after it went on a rampage vandalising and burning shops and houses.
There has been no casualties so far on the security personnel’s side.
