Manipur to get Rs 15000 cr for road infra; Elevated highway for Imphal

Manipur: Big boost to road infrastructure projects. Rs 15000 crore for development of roads and building new bridges.

Major road infrastructure projects are in the pipeline for Manipur. A total of 655 km roads will undergo massive transformation at a cost of over Rs 15000 crore.

The projects include as As many as 15 roads, highways and bridges. Meanwhile, an Elevated Highway measuring 25 km throughout the Imphal City at a cost Rs. 3692 crore has been approved by the Centre.

Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh said that apart from Rs 15,499 Crore for development of roads and highways, another Rs 70 crore have been sanctioned for construction of bridges in the state.

The Manipur Chief Minister also expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari for delivering the promises made to people of Manipur in terms of developing road infrastructure

Chief Minister N Biren Singh said that the Union Minister Niting Gadkari is willing to visit the state for Bhumi Pujan of the Elevated Highway throughout Imphal in the last part of November.

The elevated highway, once completed, is expected to ease traffic congestion in the Imphal city.
