Manipur on Top of Medal Tally at 38th National Games with 19 Medals, CM N. Biren Singh Congratulates Athletes

Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh congratulated the state’s athletes for their outstanding performances.

Manipur is leading the medal tally at the 38th National Games with 19 medals, including 9 gold, 7 silver, and 3 bronze. The state’s athletes have delivered remarkable performances, reinforcing Manipur’s status as a sporting powerhouse. 

Sarungbam Athouba Meitei secured Manipur’s first gold medal in the men’s individual Triathlon event. Other gold medalists include Saya, Laxmi, and Kangjam Monish in the Women’s Wushu category, and Bonisana in the Men’s Wushu category.

Among the bronze medalists are Wahengbam Bhumeswor and Oinam Bidyapati, while silver winners include Khaidem Bidyashwori and Nongmaithem Malemnganba. 

Manipur’s dominance in weightlifting continued, with Bindyarani Devi setting a national record in the women’s 55kg category. She lifted a total of 201kg—88kg in snatch (new national record) and 113kg in clean and jerk—securing gold.

Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh congratulated the state’s athletes for their outstanding performances. He reaffirmed Manipur’s dominance in Indian sports and expressed confidence in further success at the ongoing event. The Chief Minister also assured job opportunities for National Games medalists, highlighting that similar provisions have already been extended to athletes who have represented India in the National and Asian Games. 

“With its athletes excelling across multiple disciplines, Manipur continues to showcase its sporting talent, aiming to maintain its lead in the 38th National Games”, said CM.
