Manipur Governor visits families of 2 deceased students

Governor Uikey said that the CBI is probing the incident so that justice can be delievered as early as possible

Governor of Manipur Anusuiya Uikey visited the families of the two students who were found dead. She shared the sorrow of both the families.

It was an emotional moment as parents of both the students were in utter despair and grief. Unable to bear the loss, the parents weeped as Governor Anusuiya Uikey consoled them while assuring that proper probe is being done and justice will be delivered.

Governor Uikey speaking to newspersons said, “My deepest condolences are with all of you, may the departed souls rest in peace. I have already taken up the matter with the higher authorities and continously pursuing it. I have been informed that the CBI probe has already begun.”

The Manipur Governor stated that she has done everything possible as far as tracing and finding the students is concerned. She said, “When I came across the information about the incident, I immediately sought details as to what exactly had happened. I said that there must be an immediate inquiry into this. I was told that the CBI probe is underway. From the beginning itself, I have been doing whatever is possible on my part for all of you. When you all met me, I urgently sent the Army to those places to find them, but they could not be found.”

The Manipur Government too has vowed strong action after pictures surfaced on social media showing 2 students Phijam Hemjit and Hijam Linthoingambi dead in an unknown location.

Both, Hijam Linthoingambi and Phijam Hemanjit of Imphal West went missing on July 6 after they left home for a coaching centre at Keishampat.

But soon after the N Biren Singh lifted the ban on internet, pictures showing the teens dead went viral.
