Manipur CM terms Rahul Gandhi’s campaign as Bharat Todo Yatra

The Manipur CM said that he is doubtful if Rahul Gandhi's visit to the state this time will ignite fresh unrest in the state.

Taking a jibe at Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh today said it’s not Bharat Jodo but Bharat Todo Yatra.

Moments after the Congress leader launched the Yatra from the Khongjom War Memorial Complex, in Manipur’s Thoubal district, Chief Minister N Biren Singh seemed doubtful on whether Rahul’s visit will once again create troubles in the state.

According to the Manipur Chief Minister, Rahul Gandhi’s visit in the state last time had created distrubances and ignited fresh unrest and people of the state are on alert this time.

Speaking to newspersons after attending the observance of the 8th Armed Forces Veterans Day, Chief Minister N Biren Singh said, “It (Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra) will have no effect. For me it seems it is not Bharat Jodo, but Bharat Todo. When he came, he went back by ‘breaking’ Manipur, and when we were trying to ‘join’ Manipur together, he has again come back to break it, I feel so. Situation has become normal, but I doubt there will be a mess again as he has come back.

Last time he came, there was mess (disturbances), whenever he comes there is mess (disturbances). But this time we all the Manipuri people are fully alert so that he does not create any mess (disturbances) again.”

“Is it the time to take out rallies? In Manipur, the time now is for saving lives, saving properties and console those in distress. It is not the time to take out rallies and do politics. The Congress usually do such things,” CM N Biren Singh further said.

Rahul Gandhi during the launch of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra lashed out at the BJP for allegedly being indifferent to the situation in Manipur. He assured the people that the party feels the pain felt by the people of Manipur during the past few months and promised to bring back peace and harmony that the state has been known for.
