Day 2 of B20 session: Overseas delegates visit Marjing Polo Ground and INA Advance Headquarters in Moirang

On the second day of the B-20 session which is underway in Manipur, 115 overseas delegates including Diplomats and Ambassadors from different countries visited the Marjing Polo Ground.

Diplomats, Ambassadors, and delegates were showcased the statue of Polo erected in the foothill of Marjing hill in Imphal East district.

The idea behind taking the overseas delegates to the 121 feet tall Polo Statue was to tell the delegates that Polo originated from Manipur.

Later in the day, the delegates were taken to Moirang under the Bishnupur district to show them the INA Advance Headquarters.

The delegates also visited the Ethnic Park located in Moirang Khunou where ethnic huts belonging to different tribes are erected. Cultural and traditional dances by various tribes were showcased during the delegates’ visit.

Mandla Rametsi, councilor to South African High Commission speaking to Northeast Live stated that as diplomats they want to strengthen the ties with India and praised the Manipur government for its efforts.


Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh reacting to the response of the delegates and ambassadors said, “As a Chief Minister of the state my duty is to give maximum happiness to the delegates who are visiting from India and abroad. Around 50 delegates from foreign countries have arrived. So far the reactions from the media people I got are very happy and this kind of experience is the first of its kind in entire India. It is the first of its kind where altogether 34-35 tribes are dancing and enjoying their traditional apparel, dress, customary and food items.”

CM N Biren Singh hoped that after the G20 meeting, the state will be able to attract a lot of investment and the state’s industrial sector will get a boost.
