Zubeen Garg Celebrates 50th Birthday Today; Wishes Pour In

Zubeen Garg has turned 51 today. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has extended his greetings to the singing sensation.
Wishes from fans and well-wishers are pouring in as Assam’s singing sensation Zubeen Garg celebrates its 50th birthday today.
Wishing the much popular singer- composer-actor-director-producer on his birthday, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted, “Wishing you a very happy birthday Zubeen! May Maa Kamakhya & Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev bless you with good health, and may you continue to enthral us with your melodious songs. @zubeengarg1”
Assam minister Pijush Hazarika also conveyed his birthday greetings to Zubeen.
“Wishing the heartthrob of India’s music industry & singing sensation @zubeengarg1 a very Happy Birthday! May Maa Kamakhya bless you with good health & prosperity always,” he tweeted.
Born to Kapil and Illy Borthakur on November 18, 1971 in Tura, Zubeen was named after the famous composer Zubeen Mehta.
Zubeen, who was already a popular name in the Assamese music and film scene, shot to fame across India with his number ‘Ya Ali Rahem Wali’ in the 2006 Hindi film Gangster starring Imran Hashmi, Kangana Ranaut and Shiny Ahuja. Zubeen features in the song with Shiny Ahuja.
His first guru was his mother who taught him the basics of singing. He then went on to learn to play the tabla from Pandit Robin Banerjee for 11 years. Guru Ramani Rai acquainted him with Assamese folk. Garg, who was composing songs right from his school days, composed and sang his first song “Gaane ki Aane” at the age of 13.
Zubeen made his entry into the professional music scene in 1992. He entered the Assamese film world with the films ‘Tumi Mur Matho Mur‘ and ‘Hiya Diya Niya‘ in 2000. Since then there has been no looking back for his much loved artiste of Assam. His recent popular movies include his directorial debut ‘Kanchanjangha‘, ‘Ratnakar‘ and ‘Pratighaat‘. His upcoming movie includes ‘Dr Bezbaruah 2’, a remake of the epic Assamese movie ‘Dr Bezbaruah’.
