Topcem-Assam Sports Journalist Association’s Chess Championship held in Guwahati

Gautam Chakraborty of Doordarshan Kendra Guwahati was adjudged the winner while Wasbir Hussain, Editor-in-Chief of Northeast Live and Armanur Rahman of The Wire were the runners-up

Media persons and senior journalists of Guwahati donned a different hat today. Taking a break from their hectic news schedule, journalists from various media organisations took part in the chess championship organised by Topcem and Assam Sports Journalists Association. The championship saw some nail-biting, exciting matches.

Gautam Chakraborty of Doordarshan Kendra Guwahati was adjudged the winner while Wasbir Hussain, Editor-in-Chief of Northeast Live and Armanur Rahman of The Wire were the runners-up.

The chess championship was part of the Topcem-Asia and Assam Sports Journalists Association’s annual media sports festival held every year wherein football, badminton, table tennis and cricket matches too were held.

The medal ceremony will be held at Nehru Stadium tomorrow afternoon. The ceremony will be attended by BCCI’s Acting Secretary Devajit Saikia.
