Sikkim: Missing Gorkha Regiment soldier, Deep Newar from Assam is safe, informs family members

The soldier's elder brother said that Deep and the other troopers are in the Nathula sector
Deep Newar, a Gorkha Regiment soldier hailing from Assam’s Dibrugarh district who was reportedly missing in Sikkim after the flash floods is safe.
Deep’s elder brother has informed this to the media. He said, “I could not speak to him directly but from the police we have come to know that the entire regiment is safe. They are not facing any other problem. But since the internet is down, a direct contact is impossible. A colleague of Deep who had undergone training together informed me that Deep is safe. They are in the Nathula sector.”
However, Hiren Deuri- a youth from Guwahati and a family from Nalbari still remain missing in the flood ravaged state.
Close to 50 people have lost their lives in the disaster while almost 150 people are still missing. Around 25,000 people have been affected and 1,173 buildings have been damaged. Almost 900 vehicles have been washed away. As per inputs over 3,000 persons have been rescued so far.
