Lok Sabha Election 2024: Rajnath Singh to visit Assam on March 14

Primarily, Rajnath Singh will be in Assam to finalize the name of the candidate for the Kokrajhar Lok Sabha seat.

Defence Minister and a BJP veteran Rajnath Singh is all set to visit Assam on March 14 and will be chairing a crucial meeting of the BJP and it’s alliance partners AGP and the UPPL.
Primarily, Rajnath Singh will be in Assam to finalize the name of the candidate for the Kokrajhar Lok Sabha seat.
To take things forward, the BJP and its alliance partners accordingly have decided to form an election management committee to make sure that the candidate emerges victorious.
Assam cabinet minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass shared details about this and said, “The BJP, AGP and the UPPL has formed a Election Management Committee. To ensure that we win the elections with a huge majority we are in talks, also finalized the strategy. The process is underway for the setting up of an Election Management Committee in every constituency. Within March 13, the EMCs will be set up. On March 14, at around 11 AM Defence Minister and a BJP veteran Rajnath Singh will be reaching Kokrajhar. After his arrival he will discuss with all the leadership of the 3 parties (BJP, AGP, UPPL) and give the guidance.”
BTR chief and UPPL president Pramod Boro also spoke to the media and said, “Since there will be a candidate (common candidate) in Kokrajhar, so we have formed an Election Management Committee to make sure that the candidate wins. A committee has been formed under the chairmanship of former MLA Hemendra Nath Brahma and Gautam Das (EM, BTR) as the Chief Convenor. This Committee will look after the management of the elections in all the 9 LACs under (Kokrajhar LS) until election is over. We are fully prepared to fight the election with all our might.”
The ‘Big Brother’ BJP has already announced its list of candidates for 11 seats leaving 3 seats for its allies- AGP and UPPL to contest.
AGP too has announced the names for the Barpeta and Dhubri Lok Sabha seats on Monday.
Now, the focus remains on the Kokrajhar parliamentary seat where the UPPL will be fielding its candidate.
