In all probability, the Assam Congress is likely to announce its list of candidates for the ensuing Lok Sabha election today.

Reports are doing the rounds that, Assam Congress President Bhupen Borah and opposition leader Debabrat Saikia are in a huddle with the party high command to decide the names.

If sources are to be believed, Gaurav Gogoi is expected to contest from the Nagaon seat, replacing Pradyut Bordoloi. Replacing Abdul Khalek, Rakibul Hussain is likely to be fielded from the Barpeta parliamentary seat.

From the prestigious Guwahati seat Mira Barthakur is likely to be the grand old party’s candidate, Naiwritta Jai Shukla from Silchar, Zuber Anam from Karimganj, Deep Bayan from Barpeta, Suraj Dihingiya from Jorhat, Uday Shankar Hazarika from Lakhimpur, Premlal Gunju from Sonitpur, Madhav Rajbongshi from Darrang-Udalguri, Jayram Engleng from Diphu, Garjan Mushahary from Kokrajhar, Roselina Tirkey from Kaziranga.

However, an official statement by the Congress is still awaited.
