The two girls went missing during Saraswati Puja festivities on February 14 which was Valentine’s Day too

The two school girls who had gone missing from Guwahati’s Noonmati area on Valentine’s Day have been rescued safely from near Durga Raas temple in Tihu in Nalbari district yesterday.

While one of the victim’s father said that the duo was lured by people in the name of jobs in Hyderabad with a contract of 5 years, it has come to light that it was actually a love affair.

One of the girls was having an affair with a boy named Madhav Das. Since it was Valentine’s Day and Saraswati Puja on the same day, the girls fled to Hathikhola, Tihu to meet Madhav. They were taken there by Madhav’s friend Arun Das.

They spent the night at Arun’s sister’s house and next morning they sent a WhatsApp message to their family informing them that they had fled willingly and were safe. They would return home in 5 years after gaining success. They also asked their families not to try to find them because all such attempts would be futile.

Police traced them and brought them to Noonmati Police Station, Guwahati today. Police also arrested Madhav Das and Arun Das in the connection.
