Arunachal: Nyshi elite society celebrates 16th Nyshi Day

Nyshi Elite Society (NES) today celebrated the 16th Nyshi Day at Richi Juliang, Itanagar.

The celebrations started with a flag hoisting followed by the Nyishi Anthem at the NES Secretariat.

The members of the Nyishi Art & Culture Welfare Society (NACWS) performed an opening song for the event.

Programmes such as–traditional dance performances, tug-of-war contests were also held.

Moreover, NES Life Time Achievement Awards were also conferred to achievers of the community and the Posthumous Award were handed over to legal heirs of the unsung heroes of Arunachal Pradesh.

Nyshi Day is celebrated every year on Aprim 19 to commemorate the historic constitutional amendment recognising Nyishi as the official nomenclature for the community.

Deputy chief Minister chowna mein attended the event as the chief guest.

Chowna Mein wished everyone a happy Nyshi Day and said that the Nyshi Elite Society (NES) is an invaluable asset for the community that helps in policy making in the society.

Chowna Mein also praised the community as the most progressive tribe in the state.

The NES today also felicitated Former NES president Dr Bengia Tolum with the Nyshi Elite Society lifetime achievement award for “his immeasurable contributions in social sectors, cultural reformation, and unifying the Nyishi tribe.”
