Arunachal: MBSU alleges irregularity in the water conservation project at Gueng and Diyung Lake

The Magong Banggo Students’ Union of Arunachal Pradesh’s Siang district has accused the Water Resource Department of Siang district of fund misappropriations in the water conservation project at Gueng and Diyung Lakes in Riga village .

The MBSU along with the department officials inspected the project site of Gueng and Diyung lakes of Riga village on Friday.

During the inspection the student’s union discovered huge irregularities and alleged corruption in the water conservation project worth Rs. 1.87 Crore at the lakes.

In this regard the President of MBSU, Koti Mize, and Speaker of MBSU, Lenzing Mize, accused the department of Water Resources Department, Siang Division, of corruption in the entire execution of the project beginning from the tendering process.

The student body has also alleged anomalies in the tendering of the project, wherein out of Rs. 1.87 crore, only 1.13 crore tender was called by the department leaving a gap of Rs 74 lakhs.

Meanwhile, the Magong Banggo Students’ Union has also demanded for an SIC inquiry into the project.

“We request Chief Minister, Pema Khandu to interfere into the case and get the corruption in the project be investigated properly and guilty be arrested soon so that any developmental projects for the public are not misappropriated by any officials in near future”, said Lenzing Mize and Koti Mize from the student body.
