Arunachal: BJP MLA Phosum Khimhun suffers heart attack, dies

Khimhun was elected from the Changlang South seat in the 2014 Arunachal Pradesh Assembly elections as a candidate of the People's Party of Arunachal.

On a day when PM Narendra Modi was in Arunachal Pradesh for yet another historic visit, BJP MLA from the Changlang South constituency- Phosum Khimhun breathed his last this morning in Itanagar.

As per inputs, Khimhun had suffered a heart attack and was admitted to the Heema Hospital in Itanagar.
Khimhun was elected from the Changlang South seat in the 2014 Arunachal Pradesh Assembly elections as a candidate of the People’s Party of Arunachal.

He had won the seat again in 2019 on a BJP ticket.

Arunachal Pradesh CM Pema Khandu expressed his condolences and said, “I am shocked at the passing away of Hon’ble BJP MLA Shri Phosum Khimhun from Changlang South assembly constituency. My deepest condolences to the bereaved family members, friends, kin and followers! 🙏
Late Shri Khimhun was dedicated to the service of his people, the region’s development and growth of Arunachal Pradesh. Will ever miss his camaraderie, and commitment and concern for the State’s inclusive progress.
May Lord Buddha grant eternal peace to the departed soul and strength to his near and dear ones to cope with this agonizing moment. 🙏

Despite his engagements in view of the Prime Minister’s visit, CM Khandu took time and visited Khimhun’s official residence to pay tribute.

In a post on X, CM Khandu said, “Offered a heartfelt farewell to Hon MLA Late Shri Phosum Khimhun Ji, at his official residence in Itanagar. My deepest sympathies are with the grieving family during this difficult time.

Arunachal BJP President Biyuram Waghe also condoled the demise of Khimhun and posted on X.
“With a heavy heart I paid my last respect to Hon’ble MLA Late Shri Phosum Khimhun ji in his residence.
My deepest condolences and sympathies to the bereaved family members for this great loss which is also a great loss for the party and the state.

May his Soul rest in Peace.”

Arunachal Pradesh Lok Sabha MP Tapir Gao too condoled the death of Khimhun. In a post on social media, MP Tapir Gao said, “Really shocked and deeply pained by the sudden demise of Shri Phosum Khimhun ji, Hon’ble @BJP4India MLA from 52-Changlang South Assembly Constituency.
My heartfelt condolence to his entire family & people during this difficult time and pray for his soul to rest in Peace.”
