Lalremkima said that no party will secure an absolute majority to form government in Mizoram
Aam Admi Party (AAP) will play a crucial role in the formation of government in Mizoram after the Assembly elections, said AAP Mizoram President Andrew Lalremkima.
Speaking exclusively to Northeast Live, Andrew Lalremkima said that the majority of people are neutral voters and candidates selected to contest the elections are very young people. Though the candidates do not have much experience in politics but are very positive in a certain way.
“Since the leaders of our party are highly positive, perhaps we could garner some support, elect a few MLAs, and be a part of the government. Since it appears that a coalition government will be formed, we could hold a significant position in the government,” said Lalremkima.
Lalremkima said that no party will secure an absolute majority to form government in Mizoram.
“I do not think that out of 40 Assembly seats, any party can secure majority votes to form the government,” he added.
He, however, said that it will also be difficult to say with which party, APP would like to join hands. The decision will be taken by the Central party leaders.
He said that his party will be a deciding factor this time. It is testing waters in Mizoram with only 4 candidates in the fray.
Earlier in the morning, the party announced its list first of 4 candidates for the assembly elections to be held on November 7, 2023.
Andrew Lalremkima has been filed from Aizawl North III, while Vanlalmaeia Vanchhawng will contest from Aizawl West I.
The counting of votes will take place on December 3, 2023.
