Meghalaya Govt to release Rs 52 crores for SSA teachers’ salary

Shangpliang said that the next payment will be released in September this year
Conrad Sangma-led Meghalaya government would soon release Rs 52 crores towards payment of salary for Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) teachers in the state, said Himalaya Shangpliang, Advisor, Education Department, Government of Meghalaya today.
Shangpliang said that the process for releasing the next payment has already started. The first salary of SSA teachers were released in June this year.
Speaking on the sidelines of the conference cum felicitation programme of SSA teachers held in Shillong’s U Soso Tham Auditorium, Shangpliang said that the MDA-2 government has taken various initiatives for the smooth implementation of the quarterly system for payment of salary to SSA teachers.
He said that apart from the Rs 52 crores, the government has also assured to release the pending installments (arrears) which were pending for years.
Shangpliang said that while the government is dealing with all of the concerns of the SSA teachers, the state is at a crucial juncture in its educational system and is going through a period of transition.
Additionally, he said that all teachers will be trained before the implementation of National Education Policy 2020 in the state.
Shangpliang also noted the expansion of the school’s infrastructure while stating that classrooms would be converted to smart classrooms.
