Manipur unrest: NESO delegation arrives in Imphal to spread message of harmony

The NESO team will also be visiting relief camps in both hills and the valley.
An 18-member delegation of the North East Students’ Organization or NESO has arrived in violence affected Manipur this afternoon.
The NESO team, comprising of the All Assam Students Union (AASU), Khasi Students Union (KSU), the All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union (AAPSU), the Tripura Students Federation (TSF), the Naga Students Federation (NSF), the Garo Students Union (GSU) and the All Manipur Students Union (AMSU) will be meeting leaders of both the communities in the state.
After arrival at the airport, NESO Chairman Samuel Jyrwa said, “This is a continued visit to Manipur. Our visit to Manipur is to promote peace and tranquility among the different sections among the different communities who have been living in Manipur for past so many years.”
AASU Chief Adviser Samujjal Bhattacharya who is also a part of the delegation said, “On behalf of NESO we are here to pass a message of peace and harmony. We will meet all the people here, we will meet with the civil society of the Meitei community, we will also meet the civil society of the Kuki community also. we are here on the behalf of the people of the Northeastern region to create a goodwill among the indigenous people of Manipur.”
Besides, the NESO team will also be visiting relief camps in both hills and the valley.
Additionally, the NESO team is scheduled to meet Governor Anusuiya Uikey and is also expecting to meet Chief Minister N Biren Singh.
