Ten political parties — AAP , AIFB , AITC , CPI , CPI ( M) , INC , JDU, NCP , RSP and SS (UBT), came together to organise a peace convention in capital city Imphal amid the turmoil in the state of Manipur.
They observed two minutes of silence as a mark of homage to those who have lost their lives in the ongoing violence in Manipur.
The 10 political parties discussed various agendas to bring peace in Manipur. Also present at the peace convention were the 5 MPs of CPI and CPM who are on a 3-day visit of Manipur. The MPs were briefed about the Manipur situation so that they could recommend through Parliament to the Government of India to take necessary action to restore peace and normalcy in Manipur.
During the Convention various leaders from various political parties stated that If the present Government in Manipur have no power to express to Prime Minister Narendra Modi then, support the other remaining 10 Political Parties of Manipur. They will speak with PM to bring peace in Manipur as people in Manipur including both hills and valleys are suffering very much. They also said, “Let us all stop playing politics, lets get united and take action to bring peace in Manipur”.
“The Convention had resolved that the need of the hour is to restore peace and normalcy, bridge the unprecedented divide and heal the wounds of the people, and for this Chief Minister of Manipur, N Biren Singh should be held full/ responsible and has to go,” one of the resolutions of the Convention said.
The Convention strongly condemned PM Narendra Modi for his total silence on Manipur turmoil as he has neither spoken a single word on the situation in Manipur nor appealed for peace and restoration of normalcy in the state as yet in the last 65 days.
