The 19-member high-level committee formed for the better management of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) of Manipur taking shelter in Mizoram today held its first meeting in Aizawl and decided to allow displaced students from Manipur to resume their studies in the state even without any documents.
The meeting was chaired by the committee chairman Disaster Management Minister Lalchamliana.
The meeting resolved that the IDPs of Manipur, taking shelter in Mizoram, will be provided with all humanitarian assistance and to identify and record the IDPs meticulously, the state Information and Communication Technology was entrusted to formulate Management Information System.
The meeting decided that more accommodation, besides government buildings being used to lodge the IDPs, would be provided for those who do not have relatives or friends in the state.
It was also decided to send officials to pursue Chief Minister Zoramthanga’s appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to provide funds for humanitarian assistance for the IDPs.
The meeting also appealed to civil societies, churches and individuals to donate funds and other humanitarian relief for the IDPs.
