Nagaland: CM Rio condemns Tizit Students Union leader Ahoa Konyak’s killing

CM Rio also said that justice will be delivered as per the law

Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio strongly condemned the brutal kiling of Tizit Students Union leader Ahoa Konyak at Phantom Colony at Namsa Tizit in Nagaland’s Mon district on Thursday.

Ahoa Konyak, who was the Action Chairman of Tizit Area Students Union (TASU) was hacked to death by one identified as Menshan Konyak, son of SS Maj Kapneyei of the NSCN K Yung Aung faction.

Condemening the brutal murder, CM Rio appealed for peace from all sections of society and to cooperate with the authority.

CM Rio also said that justice will be delivered as per the law.

“I strongly condemn the brutal act that unfolded in Tizit. I appeal for peace from all sections of society and to cooperate with the authority. Justice will be delivered as per the law of the land. I extend my deepest condolences to the family of Mr. Ahoa Konyak,” CM Rio tweeted.

On Thursday, three officials of the Tizit Area Students Union had gone to raid Phantom Colony after receiving information about drug peddlers present at the colony.

However, when the team reached the spot, they were attacked with a machete where Ahoa Konyak lost his life.

After the incident came to light, angry mobs burned down the house of the accused.

Meanwhile, the accused has surrendered and is currently under police custody at Namsa Police Station.

In the wake of the gruesome murder, TASU has ordered shut down in the Tizit Juridiction for 24 hours with immediate effect till today to mourn the death of Ahoa Konyak. TASU has also asked for public’s cooperation.
