Tawang prepares to facilitate better services to tourists

In a bid to facilitate better services to the tourists visiting Tawang, a coordination meeting of Indian Army, police and taxi operators of Tawang was held in Tawang today.

The meeting was chaired by Choiki Dondup Extra Assistant Commissioner and District Transport Officer of Tawang who said that the relation between Army and the civilians is cordial and very strong in Tawang. Dondup further laid emphasis on strengthening this bond.

Meanwhile, the representative of Army, Lieutenant Colonel YB Singh informed that all the army personnel were briefed to cooperate the tourists and extend help to taxi operators during emergencies in any eventuality.

On the other hand, secretary of Taxi union Tashi Dhondup placed the grievances faced by taxi operators and drivers while operating their vehicles towards forward areas and requested the concerned authorities to brief personnel deployed at various check gates and drivers driving heavy vehicles to exhibit maturity in dealing with the situation.

Further, in the meeting it was decided to mandate carrying of snow wheel chains during winter, proper behaviour with tourists and also to have better coordination between Army personnel deployed in the security check gate and taxi operators.

Among others, District Tourism Officer Tsering Deki, Town magistrate Dorjee Wangchu, Additional SP Thutan Jambey and President Taxi union Tawang Dawa Tashi also spoke on the occasion.
