Prior to the assembly election, prohibitory orders were imposed under section 144 CrPC, in Tizit town on February 21, evening. The restriction was enforced by the Deputy Commissioner, Mon, following an incident of arson in the town on the night of February 20.
It said that the order was necessitated based on information “from Tizit sub-division that certain group of people are not only disturbing the law-and-order situation in and around Tizit Town area but also hampering the ongoing process of General Election in free and fair manner, thereby causing likelihood of breach of public peace and tranquility in around Tizit Town area.”
