The Winter Cricket Challenge is India's and the world's oldest T20 cricket tournament.

The 27th edition of the Winter Cricket Challenge is currently underway in Wokha district in Nagaland. The tournament is a yearly affair, and 17 teams from several districts of Nagaland are participating in this year’s edition. The tournament is being organised by the Senior Noble Klan.

The Winter Cricket Challenge is India’s and the world’s oldest T20 cricket tournament. The tournament is being held with custom-made balls.

One of the secretaries of the organising committee, speaking to Northeast Live, said, “The association started in 1996. A bunch of retired cricketers started the tournament. In this year’s edition of the winter cricket challenge, we have 17 teams taking part from all over Nagaland. This year we have opened the tournament so that anyone can hire any number of outside players. The team from outside will train us for the tournament later.”

“In the span of 27 years, as a senior, I have seen talents being lifted up. We are very lucky that one of our cricketers, brought up from the winter cricket challenge, is also representing the Ranji Trophy for the first time,” the secretary said.
