6th Edition of Captain (Late) N Kenguruse Memorial Football began today. Tehok FC beats Aphuyemi FC 5-1 in opening match.

The 6th Edition of Captain (Late) N Kenguruse Memorial Football Tournament kickstarted at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in Kohima today. The tournament is organised annually by Assam Rifles on behalf of HQ 3 Corps, to remember the immortal brave heart of Nagaland who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty during Operation Vijay.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Chief Guest Maj Gen Vikas Lakhera, SM, IG AR (N), recalled the heroic acts of Capt (Late) N Kenguruse, MVC(P) who made supreme sacrifice at the icy heights of Drass and thanked his parents for gracing the event. Major General Lakhera said that during a short span of eight years, the tournament has become a showcase sporting event for Nagaland and thanked Nagaland Football Association for collaborating with Assam Rifles for conduct of this tournament.

A total of 18 teams from different districts of the state are participating in the nine day long 6th Edition of Captain (Late) N Kenguruse Memorial Football tournament which will conclude on November 23.

The opening match played between Tehok FC (Mon) and Aphuyemi FC (Zunheboto) was won by Tehok FC by 5-1.
