Dengue cases: Manipur govt issues alert

Dengue cases have been reported mainly from four districts of Tengnoupal, Churachandpur, Imphal West and Imphal East.
The Manipur health department has issued an alert over the alarming spike in dengue cases this year.
Till date, as many as 358 dengue positive cases have been detected. It needs to be mentioned that, earlier the highest number of cases 359 was recorded in the state in 2019.
Meanwhile, apprehensions are that the number of cases may witness a further spike till the year comes to an end.
Manipur health minister Dr. Sapam Ranjan attributed the spike in dengue cases to public negligence, which he considers to be the main factor.
Health minister Sapam Ranjan further said that 3 people including a child have succumbed to the illness while there are 8 active cases and undergoing necessary treatment.
Maximum cases of this vector borne disease have been reported mainly from four districts of Tengnoupal, Churachandpur, Imphal West and Imphal East.
Manipur health minister Sapam Ranjan maintained that the government is taking up necessary measures like fogging, early detection and awareness programmes.
He further appealed to the people to strictly follow the guidelines to prevent the spread of dengue.
