Kevileno Angami, Commissioner & Secretary, School education & SCERT in Nagaland, stressed on the need to emphasize early childhood care and learning in the state.

Angami was addressing the inaugural function of the 3 days long State Level Capacity building of Master Trainers for NIPUN Bharat, Foundational Literacy & Numeracy, and Early Childhood care & Education at the SCERT training hall in Kohima.

Angami said that prior to the New Education Policy, the focus was not given to Foundational Literacy & Numeracy, especially in government schools.

But now due to NEP, the importance of learning in the foundational years has given importance, and focus has now been given to ECCE and FLN.

She stressed the need to emphasize early childhood care and learning in Nagaland and pointed out that, it is a practice when exams results are declared, people point fingers without realizing that unless the foundation of learning, reading, and numeracy is strong, it becomes difficult to cope up in the later stage.
