Assam Police Personnel allegedly beats up Power Dept official

The incident took place at around 2:30 pm yesterday at the industrial town of Umrangso in Assam’s Dima Hasao district.

In an alleged case of police brutality, an official of the Assam Power Distribution Corporation Limited was allegedly beaten up by a group of drunken Assam police personnel working as security personnel for Dalmia Cement.

As per reports, the incident took place at around 2:30 pm yesterday at the industrial town of Umrangso in Assam’s Dima Hasao district.

Reportedly, the APDCL official, working as a junior manager was beaten up by a group of drunken Assam Police personnel when the victim was going for a walk near his campus after work. According to the APDCL official, one of the police personnel was pelting stones at a street dog that happened to be near the victim.

Following this, the APDCL official asked the policeman not to throw stones at the dogs as the policeman could hit him in the process. The policeman then turned on the APDCL official and along with the other policeman assaulted the victim.

An FIR has been Lodged at Umrangso police station but reportedly the victim was pressured to compromise by the officer in charge of the police station.
