At least 12 security personnel, who were on their way to Tamenglong for the second phase of poll duty met with a tragic road mishap this morning.

As per the latest inputs, one of the security personnel died on the spot, while eight others sustained serious injuries.

Sources claim that the accident happened when the vehicle they were travelling in faced mechanical failure, thereby leading to the accident.

As per the direction from the government, all the injured serious and minor were airlifted to Imphal for treatment.

The deceased has been identified as Lalawmpuia of Mizoram’s Champhai district, a Mizoram Police constable.
