Manipur polls: Both hills & valley will support Congress claims ex-CM O. Ibobi Singh

The Congress is aiming high as far as the impending assembly election in Manipur is concerned. As political parties have stepped up efforts to woo the voters, Congress is confident of sweeping the poll battle. Talking to Northeast Live, former Chief Minister O. Ibobi Singh exuded confidence and said that his party will be able to claim an absolute majority. Singh is hopeful that the Congress will receive immense support in both the hills and valley for which the Congress will emerge as the single largest party. Meanwhile, the former Manipur chief minister said that the BJP will fail to make a mark in the upcoming elections.

On the other hand, the Manipur Congress has intensified its media campaign for the assembly elections, with an agenda to counter the BJP.

The Manipur Congress today officially launched the Party Campaign Song for the upcoming election at the Congress Bhawan in Imphal. AICC in-charge of Manipur Bhakta Charan Das, former Union Minister & Senior Election Observer for Manipur Jairam Ramesh were present on the occasion. Also, present in the event were former Chief Minister and Congress Legislative Party leader Okram Ibobi Singh, Congress Working Committee member Gaikhangam and Manipur Congress President N Loken Singh.

Speaking to Northeast Live, Manipur AICC in-charge Bhakta Charan Das informed that for the upcoming elections, the Congress is going to have as many as 30 Star Campaigners, which includes All India Congress Committee chief Sonia Gandhi, former Congress Chief Rahul Gandhi and other prominent leaders of the party from North East India.
