COVID-19: Manipur reports 18 cases of Delta variant

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Friday said that a number of samples sent for COVID-19 tests have been detected with the Delta variant of the Coronavirus.
At least 18 samples have tested positive for the Delta variant out of the total 20 samples sent for tests. The Manipur chief minister informed that this variant is responsible for faster spread of the pandemic.
Biren Singh added that home isolation patients would be provided additional medicines useful in treatment of this variant.
The Manipur Chief minister urged public to be more careful and follow COVID appropriate behaviours and Standard Operating Procedures issued by the government from time to time to prevent infection from the new variant.
Besides, Singh maintained that the state government had been taking up all necessary measures to curb the spread of the pandemic and also sought support of all the stakeholders in its fight against the pandemic.
