Former AASU general secretary and Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) president Lurinjyoti Gogoi on Monday submitted his nomination papers for two Legislative Assembly Constituencies – Naharkatia and Duliajan.
With the announcement of second list of 50 candidates for the three-phased assembly polls, the newly-formed regional party on Sunday confirmed the candidature of the AJP president from the Naharkatia assembly constituency in the first phase.
The party had on March 5 released the first list of 18 candidates and fielded Gogoi from Duliajan.
Meanwhile, Lurinjyoti Gogoi exuded confidence that he will win from both the seats.
“My victory is guaranteed and this time, regionalism will win in Assam. Everybody is looking for a change in the government and bring a regional party in the state,” Gogoi said.
Gogoi will be in the fray from Duliajan and Naharkatia constituency. Both constituencies of the former AASU leader are going to polls in the first phase.
