Meghalaya govt relaxes lockdown norms, allows certain activities

The Meghalaya government has decided to relax lockdown norms for certain sectors with effect from Friday. Based on guidelines issued by the Centre, the Meghalaya government has eased the lockdown

The Meghalaya government has decided to relax lockdown norms for certain sectors with effect from Friday.

Based on guidelines issued by the Centre, the Meghalaya government has eased the lockdown norms for notified shops dealing in essential goods, E-commerce operations in essential goods and common service centres are permitted to open in the state with effect from today.

However, areas in Shillong agglomeration and Mylliem Block have not been exempted.

Besides services provided by self-employed person such as electricians, IT repairs, plumbers, motor mechanics, carpenters will be allowed to operate.

In an order issued by the Chief Secretary also stated that industries, industrial establishments both government and private such as food processing industries, rice mills and mustard oil processing, brick kilns in rural areas have been allowed to function.

Apart from this, all agricultural and allied sectors activities like farming operations including livestock farming, poultry, fishery and hatcheries have also been permitted to function.

Processing and distribution of milk and milk products, procurement and marketing of agricultural produce, cold storage and warehouses are also allowed to operate.
