The total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in India now stands at 56, with 6 fresh cases of coronavirus reported in Kerala and 3 in Karnataka.

Other fresh cases reported on Monday include one each in Bengaluru, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Jammu and Punjab and two in Pune.

Earlier on Sunday, five new cases were reported from Kerala with three of a family with travel history to Italy, and two of their relatives, testing positive.

The government has enhanced thermal screening at all entry points into the country including airports and sea-ports. Various facilities to isolate and quarantine suspected and confirmed cases have been set up by states.

A man from Murshidabad, West Bengal, who died on Sunday had tested negative for COVID-19 and hence so far no death has been reported due to the disease in the country.

Meanwhile, officials of the World Health Organization warned that the threat of a global coronavirus pandemic has now become “very real” as the contagion continued its rapid spread around the world.

Globally, the novel coronavirus has infected more than 113,000 people around the world and killed over 4,000.
