Dad, Mom, and 7-Year-Old Dead; 2 Other Children Battling for Life After Horrific Road Accident in Assam

Three of a family – father, mother, and their 7-year-old child lost their lives, while two other children of the family are battling for their lives after a tragic road accident in Assam’s Cachar district today.
The accident occurred around 3 PM in the Ramnagar area near Tarapur, Silchar.
The family, residents of Srikona, were travelling in an autorickshaw from ISBT towards Tarapur when a speeding soil-laden truck from the opposite direction rammed into their vehicle with deadly force.
Afsana Begum, her husband Nejarul Haque and their 7-year-old son Tamim Ahmed died on the spot. Their two other children, daughter Tajmina Akhter and son Shamim Ahmed, are still fighting for their lives at the Silchar Medical College and Hospital.
Following the incident enraged locals attempted to block the road in protest, demanding better traffic regulation and faster emergency response. However, the police intervened to diffuse tensions and restore normalcy.
The police and CRPF personnel reached the scene, recovered the bodies, and facilitated their transfer to the hospital.
Police have launched an investigation into the accident, with preliminary reports indicating reckless driving as a possible cause. Further details are awaited.
