Union Minister called for skilling youth and supporting startups to encourage innovation and expand India’s global tea trade footprint.
Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal, in a X post, suggested leveraging Assam’s unique tea culture to promote tea tourism and shared his ambitious vision to establish India as the Tea Capital of the World.
Highlighting his interaction with key tea industry stakeholders in Guwahati, alongside Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Goyal proposed a roadmap focused on innovation, sustainability, and economic growth for the tea sector.
In his post, Goyal mentioned about the need for adopting sustainable farming practices to ensure long-term productivity and resilience. He also stressed product diversification to help small tea growers maximize their profits and proposed boosting exports by promoting organic and premium-quality teas.
Additionally, Union Minister called for skilling youth and supporting startups to encourage innovation and expand India’s global tea trade footprint. Goyal underlined the tea industry’s critical role in India’s economy and cultural heritage, urging stakeholders to embrace the transformative initiatives. Chief Minister Sarma echoed the sentiment, assuring that Assam remains committed to supporting these efforts.
