Bengaluru Police Arrest Aarav Hanoy for Murdering Maya Gogoi, Grand Daughter of Ex-Assam Cabinet Minister Indra Gogoi

Aarav, a native of Thottada in Kannur, Kerala, was arrested from outside Karnataka following an intense manhunt.

Bengaluru Police have apprehended 21-year-old Aarav Hanoy, the main suspect in the murder of Maya Gogoi, 19-year old grand-daughter of former Assam Cabinet Minister and Congress leader Indra Gogoi.
Aarav, a native of Thottada in Kannur, Kerala, was arrested from outside Karnataka following an intense manhunt. He worked as a student counsellor at a private institution in Bengaluru.

According to police, Aarav and Maya were in a relationship for six months after connecting on social media. Investigators suspect that disputes in their relationship may have culminated in the tragic murder.

Maya’s body was found on November 26 in a service apartment in Bengaluru’s Indira Nagar. Staff at the apartment, alarmed by a foul smell, unlocked the room to discover her lying on the bed with grievous injuries to her chest and head. The postmortem report confirmed the cause of death as a deep wound to her chest.

Maya hailed from Kailash Nagar in Guwahati. She had moved to Bengaluru and was living with her sister.
