In what could provide a big boost to the ongoing Naga peace talks, a two-member delegation of the Naga Mothers Association will leave for Delhi to negotiate peace on behalf of NSCN-K leader Khango Konyak.
Konyak who was allowed a safe passage to India from Myanmar on October 16 is understood to have engaged the Naga Mothers Association to act as an intermediary to work out a ceasefire with the Centre.
The ceasefire is expected to eventually lead to the NSCN-K joining the ongoing Naga peace talks.
Speaking to Northeast Live Naga Mothers Association Adviser Rosemary Dzuvichu said the organisation has always been eager to felicitate peace and hoped that something good will come out of its delegation’s visit to Delhi next week in a reported bid to bring the NSCN-K to the negotiating table.
It may be mentioned here that, BJP National General Secretary Ram Madhav, while attending Nagaland State BJP Committee’s extended executive meeting held in Mokukchung recently had said that NSCN-K is likely to join the peace process soon.
NSCN-K leader Khango Konyak entering India recently through the Indo-Myanmar International Border in Nagaland along with close to 100 heavily armed guards.
Notably, Khango Konyak was removed from his role as Chairman of NSCN-K in August and was replaced by Ying Aung, who happens to be the nephew of former NSCN-K Chairman SS Khaplang that led to a split in the ranks of the outfit.
