The controversial Vice Chancellor in-charge of Manipur University Prof Yugindro Singh has written to the Union HRD ministry saying that he was facing a threat to his life as ‘terrorist like agitators’ have taken control of the university and preventing concerned staff members from issuing or accepting admission forms.

In a letter dated October 3, Prof Yudindro, who was appointed as pro VC by the controversial and now suspended VC AP Pandey, has made some sensational allegations against the state govt led by Chief Minister N Biren Singh as well as state governor Najma Heptulla.

Prof Yugindro said that the state government’s u-turn in almost withdrawing security personnel in the University have led to agitators threatening officials as well as posing a risk to his own life.

He also accused Governor Najma Heptulla of overtly supporting the agitators with her comments. Prof Yugindro has also sought Y-category security considering the grave threat to his life.

He enclosed the Oct 1 letter from the CM’s office directing DGP Manipur suspending the search operation against some students, teachers and staff of the University. He has also addressed copies of this letter to the President and the Prime Minister.
