Nagaland ULB Election Results 2024: Counting begins amid tight security

As many as 523 candidates were in the fray for the Urban Local Body elections

The counting of votes for the Urban Local Body(ULB) elections began on Saturday morning at 8 am across 16 counting centres in Nagaland amid tight security.

Over 80% voters turnout was registered for the ULB Polls which were held on 26 June after a gap of two decades.

Polls were conducted in 420 polling stations across 214 wards spread across three municipalities and 21 town councils.

As many as 523 candidates were in the fray for the Urban Local Bodies.

The electoral process was held even as the ENPO decided to boycott the polls in Eastern Nagaland districts comprising 14 Town Councils and 140 wards spread across 20 constituencies in 6 districts.
Eastern Nagaland had also abstained from participating in the recent Lok Sabha elections as well.

The NDPP contested in 178 wards, the BJP fielded candidates in 44, the Congress in 37, and the NPP in 22.

At least 182 independent candidates were also in the fray. 64 candidates have already been declared elected unopposed.
